This Month

Kelly Dugan led the Mission League, hitting .440 as a junior for Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), leading his team to the CIF Title and the #1 ranking in California. He was 1st team All-League, 1st team All-CIF and is committed to Pepperdine University in 2009. Kelly’s senior project is to make Notre Dame athletics “We Play Green” in all sports and to be the “Johnny Appleseed” of the Mission League – introducing the program to all the baseball teams.

We Play Green will salute members of High School and Collegiate Athletic Programs that are taking the initiative along with We Play Green to bring an awareness of the positive steps an athlete can take to help the environment.

Examples of how these athletes can participate:
-Introducing reusable bottles to their team or organization
-Projects in the classroom or extracurricular that focus on environmental issues.
-Recycling bins for collection of bottles and paper cups after competitions
-Recycling your old athletic equipment at places like Play It Again, or donating it to your local Salvation Army.

Send in your submission of the program you have implemented along with a photo of you, the name and city of your school. This and your initiative will be posted each month with the athlete who has made the biggest difference will be posted as the featured athlete of the month on the main page.

Make your voice hear and do your part to keep the playing fields green and the air that is so important to us as athletes, CLEAN.

Sportz Ventures, LLC will be partnering with We Play Green to provide schools with a variety of expert content, educational programs and tools used to support athletic programs and students. The internet platform connects athletes to experts in the industry to promote and educate students on various sports related topics. Sportz Ventures will work with We Play Green and students to implement recycling initiatives at their school and will work collaboratively to host high school presentations. Through Sportz Ventures high school internship program, students’ efforts will be highlighted and showcased on both WePlayGreen.org and Sportsgist.com.
